Ah, Los Angeles, if only I were creative enough to sing a song about you. In unrelated books news are you following the driver vs. cyclist case that’s going on? If not you should look into it, talk about road rage. As I begin to brace (and quietly look forward to) colder weather in the bay area I know that you Los Angelinos will be basking in the sunlight all the way through the winter. I don’t know how you do it, don’t you like the seasons or a little bit of weather for that matter. Ah, hell, there I go again. You just want to know what’s going in the world of books don’t you? - Hulk Hogan, apparent author, wrestling megastar and reality tv star bandwagon jumper on-er, will be signing copies of his latest (didn’t know there were others) book My Life Outside the Ring at Book Soup. For those of you like me who grew up watching Hulk Hogan in the ring (ok, I never really watched that crap) here’s your opportunity to see the man who wears the unitard in person and perhaps shake his hand.

- Jonathan Safran Foer, author, will be signing copies and discussing his latest book, Eating Animals, at the Santa Monica Public Library. Mr. Foer won me over with his first book Everything is Illuminated and I think I’m not the only one. His second novel Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close was also very well received although I haven’t read it. Unlike his other novels though, this piece of work is actually non-fiction and from what I understand emphasizes why people shouldn’t be eating animals. Oprah liked it (like that matters to me) but Natalie Portman was actually convinced enough to go vegan after reading it. I mean, now that’s some serious pull. Not only that but in the little blurb I read about what Ms. Portman says, she bashes Michael Pollan!! How awesome is that? Mr. Foer will also be at Vromans on Sunday, November 8th at 630pm.
